Password-protect PDF
Encrypt a PDF and decide what may be done with it.
Quick start
- 1Choose a PDF.
- 2Set a password and repeat it.
- 3Decide whether printing, copying and editing should be allowed.
- 4Click “Protect PDF” and download the encrypted file.
Options
| Option | Effect |

| Password to open | Without this password the PDF cannot be opened. |
| Allow printing | When off, the file blocks printing. |
| Allow copying text and images | When off, content cannot be copied to the clipboard. |
| Allow editing | When off, changes such as adding pages or filling in forms are blocked. |
Important
The restrictions on printing, copying and editing are instructions to the PDF application. Most applications respect them, but technically only opening with a password can be enforced. PDFs that are already protected must be unlocked with “Decrypt PDF” first.
