Privacy policy
Here you can find out which data is processed when you use qPDF and which rights you have.
Ultimo aggiornamento: 10 October 2026
The short version
- Your PDF files never leave your device. All tools run locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.
- We do not require an account and do not collect contact details to use qPDF.
- Usage statistics are only collected with your explicit consent.
Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Blickwerk Media UG (haftungsbeschränkt) Prinz-Carl-Anlage 19 67547 Worms Germany Email: hello@blickwerk.media
Represented by Leon Reis and Luca Gans.
Processing of your files
When you select a file, your browser reads it into your device’s memory. Editing, merging, compressing and all other functions run with JavaScript directly on your device. The file and the result are not transmitted to us or to third parties and are not stored. They are gone as soon as you close or reload the page.
You can verify this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools (F12), switch to the “Network” tab and process a file. No request containing your file data is sent.
Hosting and server log files
When you visit this website, the server processes technically necessary access data that your browser transmits automatically: IP address, date and time of access, requested URL, referrer URL, browser type and version, and operating system. This data is required to deliver the website, ensure its stability and security, and prevent abuse.
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA (“Vercel”). Server functions run in the Frankfurt am Main region (fra1, Germany). Static content is additionally delivered through Vercel’s content delivery network so the site loads quickly.
A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Vercel. Where personal data is transferred to the USA in the process, the transfer relies on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and error-free operation). The data is only stored as long as necessary for this purpose and is not merged with other data. Your files are not affected: they reach neither Vercel nor our servers.
Local storage in your browser
qPDF stores a few settings on your device. They are technically necessary for the site to work the way you chose and are not used for tracking. The legal basis is Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- NEXT_LOCALE (cookie): remembers your language choice.
- Theme (local storage): remembers whether you use the light or dark theme.
- Cookie choice (local storage): remembers your decision in the cookie banner so we do not ask you on every visit.
- Accessibility (local storage): remembers your settings such as text size or high contrast.
Your files are never stored in cookies or local storage.
Usage statistics with Umami
To understand which tools are used and to improve qPDF, we use the analytics software Umami, where enabled and solely with your consent. Umami is operated by us on our own server. No data is passed on to third parties.
Umami works without cookies and without building profiles across websites. The following data may be collected: visited page, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and the approximate country of origin. The IP address is not stored in plain text. The contents of your files are not collected.
The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future by clicking “Cookie settings” in the footer and turning statistics off. The lawfulness of processing carried out until then remains unaffected.
Fonts
The fonts we use are delivered from our own server. No connection to Google or other font providers is made.
Your rights
To the extent that we process personal data about you, you have the following rights against us as the controller:
- Access to your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Withdrawal of consent you have given (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
To exercise your rights, write to hello@blickwerk.media. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is: Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz, Hintere Bleiche 34, 55116 Mainz.
