Privacy & how it works
All processing happens locally on your device. Your files are never sent to a server.
How it works
When you select a file, your browser reads it into memory. JavaScript libraries on the page do the work: pdf-lib creates and modifies PDFs, PDF.js renders previews and reads text, and JSZip bundles multiple results into a ZIP.
The finished result is created as a file in the browser and saved when you click “Download”. There is no account, no history and no server-side storage.
Verify it yourself
- 1Open your browser’s developer tools (F12) and switch to the “Network” tab.
- 2Process a PDF with any tool.
- 3You will see that no request containing your file data is sent.
What is stored in your browser
| Data | Purpose | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Language | Remembers your language choice | Cookie NEXT_LOCALE |
| Theme | Light or dark | Browser local storage |
| PDF files | Never stored | Only in memory, gone when you close or reload the page |
Limits of in-browser processing
- Very large files need a lot of memory. On phones, files of several hundred megabytes can cause problems.
- Password-protected PDFs are not supported. Remove the protection first in a PDF application.
- There is no text recognition (OCR). Scanned documents stay images.
